Uluru / Ayers Rock

This post is the first one since I’ve officially became an Australian citizen so I though I’ll make it about something truly Australian. And as far as symbols go, Uluru is definitely up there. Probably everyone has seen it at least once, just like the Sydney Opera House. I’ve actually just came back from a short trip to Northern Territory (more photos to come) so here it is – the big red rock from the middle of Australia.

Calilegua National Park

Just came back from an awesome camping tour to the middle of Australia and I’ll definitely posts few photos here soon. But first let’s try to finish documenting the trip to Argentina, we’re almost there. This time a bit different view of the mountains there – green Calilegua National Park located close to Bolivia [which is not in Europe btw ;)].

Argentina hard to find in travel books

We did organise the trip around Argentina on our own and as you’ve probably already noticed we visited many isolated places. But Libertador General San Martin (nice name for the city btw) is probably the least ‘tourist’ place we’ve been to. It took us a while to find a place to sleep there and for dinner we went to the local pizzeria which was serving one kind of pizza named – yes, you guessed it – ‘pizza’. You’ll probably be able to get the climate of this place from the photos.

It doesn’t get much more remote than Iruya

If you thought some of the other places I’ve posted photos from before were remote, check this one out. A small town of Iruya sits nestled against the mountainside and it takes a bit of patience to get there through the unsealed road. But it’s worth it, you might even see the game of soccer from pretty high up.

Humahuaca

It’s so cool to follow the Dakar rally this year cause most of the time when they mention a place I can say “I’ve been there!” or at least “I know exactly where it is” :) The rally actually went through the Jujuy province yesterday. They probably didn’t stop in the nice little town of Humahuaca but we did and here’s the proof of it.
