Continue reading »Another country from our Mongol Rally adventure and the first one we were warned about by previous year’s rally teams and by people from Poland (that seems to be the norm by the way, everyone tells you bad stuff about the neighbouring country): Ukraine. Fortunately we were positively surprised and had a really good time there. We did however stick to main roads and big cities and comparing our experiences with other teams that didn’t do so it seems like that was the right idea.

Continue reading »Time for few more shots from this year’s Mongol Rally and we’re going to start with Czech Republic and Poland. Early days of the rally, we were still travelling on our own and as you can imagine we went to visit some friends and family in Poland. I even managed to visit the village my grandad was born in and meet his friends and neighbours! But let’s go back to the rally.

Continue reading »Before we get on the Mongol Rally route let’s go to Prague when we were still very much in a “normal tourist” mode. We got to spend a very nice weekend there enjoying cheap beers and for most time nice weather. If you don’t mind crowds of tourists, come for a stroll.

After 38 days of driving we managed to finish the 2011 Mongol Rally and get from Czech Republic to Mongolia through Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. As you can imagine I’ve got lots and lots of photos and will definitely share them here, especially that some of them were from places people wouldn’t normally consider visiting. But for now as a small preview few photos that will hopefully show that we had an awesome experience but at times it was a pretty hard work too.
