AQWA – the Aquarium of Western Australia

We’ve been to Freo, which is south, before so it’s time to find some attractions in the north part of Perth. One of them is definitely AQWA – the Aquarium of Western Australia, the biggest aquarium and underwater tunnel in Australia. It’s hard to show all the interesting animals on photos but maybe just a few will convince you to make your way up to Hillarys to check AQWA out.

Fremantle

Let’s start the new year in Fremantle. Freo (as it’s often called) is a port city around 20km south of Perth, at the mouth of the Swan River. It definitely has a different vibe than Perth city centre, there’s plenty of cafes and restaurants, there’s markets, lots of street performers when it’s warm enough and it’s definitely nice to walk around. And of course, as everywhere around Perth, there’s plenty of water around.

Canal Rocks

OK, I won’t mention the temperature this time. I’ll just say that when I hear it’s getting to -20 degrees Celcius in Poland at nights right now it does sound crazy! And to be honest I don’t think I miss it that much. On the other hand the other day I’ve seen a movie where kids where playing in the snow and I’ve realised I haven’t seen snow in 4 years now. And I miss that a bit… Even when it’s really cold but everything around is white, that’s the winter (and Christimas) I don’t mind at all. Not this year for me, that’s for sure. Altho it is going to be colder on Christmas this year than it’s been in previous years since I came here – below 40 on Christmas Day ;) Ups, I said I won’t mention the temperature…

Back to the photos, today I want to show you few shots from possibly my favorite place in the world – Canal Rocks. I really enjoy sitting there on the rocks and watch the waves smash against them during sunset. And that’s why I always try to make my way there every time I’m down south and I would definitely recommend taking Canal Road (just south of Yallingup) and checking it out.

Time for few more photos from our come back trip from down south. This time Cape Leeuwin near Augusta, a place where two oceans (Southern and Indian) meet.

Albany

This time few photos from a place around 50km away from Denmark – Albany. Unfortunately when we had a chance to go there the weather wasn’t very nice and it rained a lot (yes, it does rain in Australia) but it still seemed like a nice place and I’m sure I’ll be back there one day. But for now have a look how does it look like in winter.
