No, I haven’t been locked up just yet, it’s just one of the attractions of Freo – Fremantle Prison. It’s a very interesting place to visit especially considering it was used as a prison from 1886 up to 1991 so not that long ago. And if you decide to go there I recommend so called “Torchlight Tour” during which you get to explore the prison during the night. With all the lights being off and just a torch in your hand.

Let’s start the new year in Fremantle. Freo (as it’s often called) is a port city around 20km south of Perth, at the mouth of the Swan River. It definitely has a different vibe than Perth city centre, there’s plenty of cafes and restaurants, there’s markets, lots of street performers when it’s warm enough and it’s definitely nice to walk around. And of course, as everywhere around Perth, there’s plenty of water around.
