España campeones

The Netherlands didn’t manage to go all the way this time but they were not that far off. Congratulations to Spain, even tho they didn’t score as many goals you could definitely enjoy watching them play. And at least this time it was a final where I liked both teams, unlike in Germany 4 years ago when all of the top 4 teams were not my favorites at all. Below few photos from the game where I saw few future World Cup champions: Barcelona – Sevilla.

World Cup

With the World Cup starting tomorrow there’s a tough month ahead of me. With games at 7.30pm, 10pm and 2.30am Perth time I may be tired every now and then ;) I’m sure it’ll be worth tho, even if it’s only on tv. Last time (2006) I was much closer to the action, I was still living in Poland and with the Cup just round the corner in Germany and with Polish team in it I just had to see it live. I did and I have to admit that even tho we were probably one of the worst teams in the competition, 40’000 people singing the national anthem together is something I’ll probably never forget. No Poland this time so let’s hope Socceroos will do at least as good as 4 years ago. My prediction for the championship: The Netherlands.

Champions! Champions! Kolejorz!!

Every now and then people ask me what do I miss the most living so far away from my homeland. I have to admit that apart from the obvious – family and friends – one thing stands out the most: Lech Poznan. I really do miss being at Bulgarska 5/7 and these days to support my team instead of watching games live I wake up in the middle of the night and try to find them on the net. It’s not always easy but there’s something special in the feeling that I may actually be the only person on this side of the world celebrating goals being scored at 3 or 4am. But today it all doesn’t matter because for the first time since 1993 we won the Polish league! I’m sure there’s plenty of people celebrating in Poznan now, believe me that at least one person more than 13.500km away from the capital of Greater Poland is doing exactly the same :) Kolejorz!!
