After craziness of the Mongolia I've got myself a bit of a different experience visiting Singapore on my way back home. And to understand the shock that one can experience flying between these two countries imagine that there's about twice as many people in Singapore (just over 5 million) but the country is almost 2,500 times smaller than Mongolia! No wonder there's so many skyscrapers, all these people have to live and work somewhere. But it's a nice place to visit especially if you like shopping, the only problem is the humidity that I'm not a big fan of.

And we're in Russia, another positive surprise of the Mongol Rally adventure. Places we went through were mostly very well developed, roads really good and petrol stations just... well, normal. As we found out later in the trip that's not always the case :) Russians are very proud of their country and its history and you can see it everywhere. Oh, if you ever go there, even basic few sentences in Russian come very handy and they really appreciate you trying, especially if you're from Australia.

Another country from our Mongol Rally adventure and the first one we were warned about by previous year's rally teams and by people from Poland (that seems to be the norm by the way, everyone tells you bad stuff about the neighbouring country): Ukraine. Fortunately we were positively surprised and had a really good time there. We did however stick to main roads and big cities and comparing our experiences with other teams that didn't do so it seems like that was the right idea.

We made it! After 38 days of driving we managed to finish the 2011 Mongol Rally and get from Czech Republic to Mongolia through Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. As you can imagine I've got lots and lots of photos and will definitely share them here, especially that some of them were from places people wouldn't normally consider visiting. But for now as a small preview few photos that will hopefully show that we had an awesome experience but at times it was a pretty hard work too.

Being in Melbourne I definitely had to visit the biggest Australian stadium - Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Last time I only managed to walk around it but this time I had a chance to both do the tour of it and go and see the AFL game. Both definitely worth it, the stadium is awesome and I just have to find an occasion to go there when it's packed.

Before I'll head off for the crazy Mongol Rally I've managed to get another trip within Australia which is always nice. Had to be in Melbourne for work for few days and stayed there for the weekend too which was pretty cool. Especially that it was sunny for like 5 days, when was the last time it happened in Victoria?

I've been to Melbourne before about 4 years ago but I didn't know anyone from there back then so this trip was definitely much more fun as I could catch up with people for dinner and / or drinks. And I got to stay at my friend's instead of being stuck in the hotel for the whole time. Thanks Pete!

Today something a bit different, instead of posting photos from my travels I've decided to create my own small ranking of airlines I had a chance to fly with. Of course the order is very subjective cause with some of them I've only been on single short flight whereas others I've used many times. Sometimes it was hard to decide so the way I've approached it was to decide: if I had two flights to the same destination with two different airlines for roughly the same price, which one would I pick? So here it is - who to fly with according to Miki.
